Three people have been charged after police seized 120kg of cocaine hidden inside furniture imported to Melbourne. Victorian Joint Organised Crime Taskforce (JOCTF) officers arrested the trio on Tuesday, 20 October 2026. They face charges including importing a commercial quantity of a border-controlled drug and attempting to possess a commercial quantity of an unlawfully imported border-controlled drug. The investigation began on 9 October 2026 after Australian Border Force (ABF) officers noticed anomalies in a consignment from Greece. The shipment was declared as household furniture, and it contained two cabinets. ABF officers x-rayed the consignment and found 120 packages of suspected drugs concealed in the furniture. Presumptive testing identified the substance as cocaine. The drugs were removed and a controlled delivery was carried out to an Essendon storage facility. Police allege a 49-year-old woman from Pascoe Vale South was the consignee and coordinated the collection and movement of the consignment on 20 October. During the delivery, officers identified two men. A 31-year-old man from Rockbank allegedly drove the consignment from the Essendon storage facility to a Keilor address, where it was opened and separated. Police say part of the shipment was moved to a second vehicle driven to a Glenroy address, where the 40-year-old man from Cairnlea was arrested. The 31-year-old allegedly then drove the other vehicle to a Rockbank address and was intercepted and arrested. JOCTF members later arrested the woman at a Pascoe Vale address the same day. All three appeared in the Melbourne Magistrates' Court on Wednesday, 21 October 2026. The two men were refused bail, while the woman was granted conditional bail. Their next court appearance is set for 10 February 2027.
