Two youths were arrested in Hamburg after allegedly throwing 200 stones from a bridge onto the A7 motorway, hitting cars and shattering windshields. Multiple drivers reported the incident to police at 22:22 on Tuesday evening. The stones were thrown from a bridge near the Autobahntunnel Stellingen, onto the A7. Police sent around ten patrol cars to the scene. Some units blocked the motorway while others searched for the suspects. To prevent further cars from being hit, traffic was stopped and a so-called emergency stop was carried out in the tunnel, with the A7 closed in both directions for about half an hour. During the search above the Stellingen tunnel, officers found two suspected stone-throwers. They were taken into custody. One car that was hit had to be towed away. Police said the investigation is ongoing into what led the youths to allegedly carry out the attack.
