21-year-old arrested after fleeing at police stop in Pescara chase
Police found a quantity of cocaine in his car after the chase between Rosciano and Nocciano.
A 21-year-old has been arrested after allegedly fleeing when police ordered him to stop, triggering a high-speed chase in the Pescara area.
According to the Carabinieri, officers from the Radiomobile unit were carrying out a territorial control service near Villa San Giovanni di Rosciano when they signaled the driver to pull over. The man allegedly accelerated instead of stopping, starting a pursuit between Rosciano and Nocciano.
The chase involved high speed and risky driving, creating potential danger for other road users. The situation became critical when the driver allegedly nearly collided with a second Carabinieri patrol that moved in to stop the flight. The impact was avoided only at the last moment.
Carabinieri officers from the stations of Catignano and Civitella Casanova also took part in the operations. The vehicle was later found in the countryside in Nocciano, and the driver was subsequently traced to his home.
The 21-year-old was taken to the Carabinieri station in Penne for checks and was arrested in relation to the incident for alleged dangerous flight and resistance to a public official on the road. The legal status at this stage is arrest, which does not mean guilt.
Further checks were carried out on the car, where police reportedly found a small amount of cocaine. Because of this, the man was also reported to the Prefecture of Pescara as an alleged drug user.
