Carabinieri police arrested a 29-year-old man for alleged abuse of his parents in Terontola. Officers from the Terontola station and the Radiomobile in Cortona made the arrest after the parents asked for help. They reported that their son, in an evident state of mental and physical impairment, attacked them after breaking plates and household items. The father is 68 and the mother is 65. Both suffered injuries that medical checks at the hospital in Cortona judged to be curable in 10 days. Police said it was not the first time the 29-year-old had been aggressive toward his parents. The father had previously reported violent behavior, but on that earlier occasion the man had not physically attacked them. After the arrest for mistreating family members, the suspect was transferred to the Arezzo remand prison while awaiting a validation hearing. The case is at the stage of judicial review following the detention, with an audience set for the convalida.
