Police detain 33-year-old for suspected drug trafficking in Gaio, Alcobaça
Three searches led to drug-related arrest and multiple reports for other offences.
Portugal’s GNR detained a 33-year-old man in Gaio, Alcobaça, for suspected drug trafficking.
Officers from the Territorial Command of Leiria, through the Criminal Investigation Nucleus in Caldas da Rainha, carried out the arrest on 15 October following an investigation that had been running for about a month.
Police carried out three searches in the Gaio area, including one home search and two searches outside homes, at Vimeiro.
As a result of the operation, the GNR reported that police paperwork included two reports for electricity theft and water theft from the public network. Officers also drew up 20 administrative offence reports linked to animal welfare, waste management, and caravanning in public roads.
The man, who has previous convictions for domestic violence, is set to be presented to a first judicial questioning at the Alcobaça Judicial Court, where prosecutors will seek pre-trial measures.
