Police in Borgo Vittoria, Turin, arrested two young men after they tried to steal about 40 kilos of copper gutters from the facades of residential buildings. A taxi driver spotted them as they dismantled the gutters and immediately called 112. Patrols from the police unit for general prevention and public assistance reached the area within minutes. Officers found the two suspects hidden inside a parked car on the complex grounds. Inside was a substantial amount of copper, and the boot floor had been removed to make space for the gutter parts. During searches, police seized tools including an electrician’s pair of pliers, a second pair of pliers, two pairs of gloves, and a construction scraper. Investigators also noted cuts on the suspects’ hands consistent with injuries. The car used to reach the buildings and transport the material was seized. After the arrest, the men were taken to Lorusso and Cutugno prison, where the judicial authority validated the arrests and ordered their obligation to reside in their respective municipalities. The case is ongoing, with the suspects accused of attempted aggravated theft in co-operation.
