43-year-old suspected of serial shotgun robberies between Francavilla and Pescara
Carabinieri arrest him after four alleged attacks and send him to Chieti prison.
Carabinieri in Francavilla al Mare arrested a 43-year-old man suspected of a string of serial robberies carried out with a shotgun between Francavilla al Mare and Pescara, according to Abruzzoinvideo.
The investigation tied him to four attacks in a single night at the end of September. In Francavilla al Mare, he allegedly approached a young woman at a car wash, threatened her with a firearm, and demanded money. She managed to flee after getting into her car.
He then allegedly moved to a local restaurant and stole 100 euros from the cash register using the same threat. About an hour later, he reportedly struck again at another restaurant, demanding the takings from the manager, but the manager resisted and forced him to run away in a car.
The suspected robber then moved to Pescara, where he allegedly robbed a pastry shop and took 600 euros in cash. He left the shotgun at the scene, and police from Pescara’s Questura later recovered the weapon.
Carabinieri developed the case through witness accounts, inspections, and investigative checks, identifying the man as the presumed culprit. He was described as already known to the authorities, with drug addiction problems and previous offences against property. After prosecutors requested it, a judge ordered pre-trial detention.
The man was arrested and transferred to the “Madonna delle Piane” prison in Chieti.
