A 47-year-old man was detained in Loures on suspicion of abusing two minor sisters, aged 9 and 13. Portuguese police, through the Polícia Judiciária (PJ) in Lisbon and the Vale do Tejo, said the suspect is strongly indicated for 17 crimes of child sexual abuse and one crime of child pornography. The alleged facts date from 2024 to the present. The PJ said the acts are believed to have taken place in a neighbourhood context involving a relationship of trust. Investigators said they identified a situation of particular vulnerability for the two children. One of the minors is currently being cared for in an institutional residence. Police also found evidence that the suspect used online platforms dedicated to the production and sharing of child sexual exploitation content. During the investigation, PJ noted at least one other potential victim, a minor under 15, and said inquiries are ongoing. They also did not rule out the existence of other victims. The suspect appeared at a first judicial interrogation at the Court of Loures. The court applied the coercive measure of pre-trial detention. The investigation involved technical and computer forensics work through the PJ’s Unidad de Perícia Tecnológica e Informática.
