Police in Huși detained a 52-year-old man from Boțești suspected of attacking his 84-year-old mother and breaching a protection order. Vaslui County police were called after a complaint filed on 22 October 2026. Investigators allege that on 18 October 2026, on the back of alcohol use and an earlier conflict, the man physically assaulted his mother. Medico-legal conclusions provisionally estimated the injuries required 4 to 5 days of medical care for recovery. To protect the victim, police issued a provisional protection order with electronic monitoring for 5 days, and the man was temporarily evacuated from their shared home. The situation escalated on 24 October, when the suspect allegedly returned to the yard of the home. He was detected in flagrante delicto and restrained by a public order team, but the victim was not inside at the time. Based on evidence collected, police arrested the man for 24 hours on 25 October 2026. After being presented to the Huși court at the prosecutor’s request, the judge ordered preventive arrest for 30 days. The investigation is continuing under the supervision of the prosecutor’s office to establish and prove the full scope of the alleged offences.
