A 49-year-old man from Kardzhali was detained after he made 6 fake emergency calls to 112 within just one hour, claiming there were kilos of drugs stored at a private home, police said. The calls were made during the night of 17 October. After the latest signals, officers from the local police unit in Kardzhali checked the address but did not find any drugs, and it turned out all six alerts were false. Police then identified who was behind the calls and detained the man for up to 24 hours under the Interior Ministry Act. An investigation is underway into sending false and misleading signals by telephone, carried out by the “Security Police” group. The probe continues as officers work to understand what led the man to repeatedly use the emergency number with a made-up story about drug quantities.
