Police detain three after alleged theft of valuable Pokémon card in Aachen
The suspects offered stolen collectible cards worth in the low five figures, police say.
Police in Aachen have detained a woman and two men over an alleged theft of a valuable Pokémon trading card.
The trio were said to have tried to sell collectible cards to exhibitors at a card fair in Aachen. An alert caller contacted the police.
Police said the cards, including Pokémon and sports trading cards, had previously been stolen in the Netherlands. Initial estimates put the value of the stolen items in the low five-figure range, with the Pokémon card described as the most valuable.
Investigators are now probing the case for receiving stolen goods, known in German as Hehlerei. The three suspects have been released after their initial arrest, a police spokesman said.
