Bangkok police arrested a 37-year-old Chinese man wanted in China over alleged links to a transnational crime syndicate and money laundering. Investigators from Thailand’s Immigration Bureau detained the suspect on Friday at a luxury house in the Ramkhamhaeng area after tracing him using Interpol data. Police allege he ran cryptocurrency and foreign currency exchanges tied to more than 133 accounts and transactions worth over 500 million yuan, about 2 billion baht. He is also suspected of arranging visas for members of transnational crime groups. Investigators said he allegedly used forged accommodation documents and changed his vehicle’s number plates and colour to evade detection. Checks found his permission to stay in Thailand had expired about three years and eight months ago. The suspect faces an overstay charge, with deportation and transfer to Chinese authorities possible after the case.
