Police arrest accused attempted murderer in Spain for extradition to Albania
The 36-year-old faces a prison security measure tied to a March 2022 shooting.
Spanish police provisionally arrested a 36-year-old man accused of attempted murder, as part of an international operation aimed at extradition to Albania.
The suspect was detained in Spain under the operation code “The Wanted”. He was born in Shkodra and was internationally wanted.
In 2022, the Shkodra Court of First Instance of General Jurisdiction ordered the security measure “Arrest in prison” over the alleged offences of murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession and production of weapons, explosive weapons and ammunition.
He is accused of firing an automatic firearm in March 2022 at a property owned by another man in the Skënderbeg neighborhood of Shkodra. Police say the shooting caused only material damage.
Interpol Tirana is coordinating with Interpol Madrid to complete the extradition procedure, the latest step after the provisional arrest in Spain.
