Greek police arrest Albanian wanted over 2020 murder in Thessaloniki
Romarjo Tahiri, 26, was provisionally arrested in Greece for extradition to Albania.
Greek authorities have arrested a 26-year-old Albanian man wanted internationally over a 2020 murder in Thessaloniki.
Romarjo Tahiri, born in Korça, was declared internationally wanted by Interpol Tirana after he was accused of killing an Albanian man in 2020 in collaboration with two other people.
Investigators say the victim was raped and then attacked with cutting tools, and later died.
In 2021, the Korça Court set the security measure “Arrest in prison” for the offence of intentional murder committed in collaboration.
The arrest took place during an international operation codenamed “The Wanted”. Interpol Tirana said it coordinated with Interpol Athens for the action aimed at Tahiri’s extradition to Albania.
The investigation also includes a report filed by the victim’s family members in Korça, with actions coordinated with Greek authorities.
Tahiri is currently provisionally arrested in Greece as extradition steps continue, with Interpol Tirana working with Interpol Athens to finalize the process.
