Andrew and Tristan Tate arrested in Miami as UK seeks extradition
Prosecutors accuse them of rape and sex trafficking tied to four women.
Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan Tate were arrested in Miami after the Crown Prosecution Service brought new charges of rape and sex trafficking, with British prosecutors seeking their extradition to the UK.
The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the brothers were taken into custody, and prosecutors said they face allegations over sexual offences involving four women, allegedly committed between July 2010 and August 2017.
Andrew Tate, 39, was charged with seven further counts of rape, three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation, three counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, plus 19 additional charges relating to indecent images of a child and extreme pornography.
Tristan Tate, 38, faces one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. Both men are awaiting extradition.
The brothers were previously charged in the UK in May 2025 with 21 counts, including multiple counts of rape, bodily harm and human trafficking, involving three women, according to British prosecutors.
In Romania, where the brothers had lived, Andrew and Tristan Tate were charged in separate cases in 2023 and 2024 with human trafficking, sexual abuse, money laundering and forming an organized criminal group. A Bucharest court ruled in December 2024 that one case could not proceed due to legal and procedural irregularities, sending it back to prosecutors, and that charges were not dropped. Prosecutors said the second Romanian human trafficking case was still ongoing as of February 2025.
The brothers are scheduled to appear in a Florida court next week.
