Weapons and 100 bullets seized during a raid at his home.
A 78-year-old man was arrested in Halandri, accused of aggravated thefts from vehicles, after police searched his home and found weapons and military-style ammunition.
The arrest took place on Thursday, 22 October, at midday, by officers from the Halandri Crime Investigation and Clearance Unit, following a probe into break-ins that mainly happened in the afternoons and evenings from late August.
Police said the suspect allegedly targeted parked cars, particularly those that were not insured. Investigators also said he allegedly removed money and valuable items either from unlocked vehicles or after breaking a small window to gain access to the interior.
During the search at his residence, officers seized two pistols, one with a cartridge in the chamber, a shotgun, a replica revolver, 100 pistol rounds, and three computers.
After the arrest, the 78-year-old was taken before the competent prosecutor for the next legal steps.
