Carabinieri arrested a 19-year-old in Cursi after finding him in possession of cocaine, hashish and marijuana. The young man was taken into custody in flagrant offence conditions during a drug operation in the morning. The seizure included about 50 grams of cocaine, around 13 grams of hashish, and nearly 80 grams of marijuana. Some of the drugs had already been split into ready-to-use portions, and police also found material that could be used to package individual doses, along with two mobile phones. The arrest was carried out by the Carabinieri Sezione Operativa of the Compagnia di Maglie, with support from a canine unit from Modugno. The operation focused on contrast to drug dealing in areas and “piazze di spaccio” where trafficking and distribution are considered concentrated. After the checks and searches, the 19-year-old was arrested and, on the order of the public prosecutor on duty at the Lecce Public Prosecutor’s Office, placed under house arrest at his home. The case is part of a wider crackdown in the Lecce area, including two separate arrests the day before in Veglie and Melendugno for alleged possession of drugs for dealing.
