Carabinieri in Vergato arrested four people after stopping a suspicious car near Rioveggio. During the control, investigators recovered around half a kilo of hashish and additional drugs hidden under a rubbish bin. The operation was carried out by the carabinieri stations of Vergato and Alto Reno Terme. The stop followed a report, and officers say the occupants showed strong nervousness from the start. One man tried to avoid checks and ran on foot. A second patrol caught him quickly in the area. Before the search, a 27-year-old allegedly handed over two small bundles with small quantities of hashish and cocaine, trying to end the inspection. But carabinieri suspected further concealment and checked the route taken during the attempt to leave. Under a rubbish bin, they found a hashish block of about 500 grams, plus 25 grams of cocaine. Officers also recovered an extra dose of around 3 grams of hashish that was allegedly dropped along the short path. All seized material was placed under seizure on the order of the public prosecutor on duty at the Bologna public prosecutor’s office. The four suspects were taken to custody and held in security rooms, awaiting a direct-speed trial procedure.
