26-year-old accused of attacking carabiniere after bar arrest in Borello
Carabiniere was treated in hospital and the arrest was upheld by a judge.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested in Borello after allegedly attacking a carabiniere during an incident at a bar, leaving the officer injured on the head.
Carabinieri in San Carlo responded on Saturday evening to a call from the central operations unit in Cesena. They went to the bar where the suspect allegedly molested customers, refused to pay for drinks, and would not show identification.
Officers tried to calm the situation and asked him to produce identity documents. He refused, became increasingly agitated, and offended the officers before additional colleagues arrived from a Cesena Radiomobile unit.
The confrontation escalated when the man allegedly tried to leave without being identified and without paying what was due. As officers held their ground, he allegedly moved from shouting and threats to a physical assault, striking a carabiniere on the head.
The other three officers managed, with difficulty, to immobilise the man and secure him. The injured carabiniere was taken to Bufalini Hospital in Cesena for treatment, received medical care for a head wound, and was discharged with an 8-day prognosis.
The 26-year-old, described as coming from the Rimini area and residing in Savignano sul Rubicone, was arrested for resisting officers and causing injuries, as well as refusing to identify himself. He was taken to the barracks for identification and other required formalities.
The Forlì public prosecutor’s office ordered that he be held in the security rooms of the Cesena company pending a validation hearing. The competent judge later validated the arrest and set an obligation for him to report daily to the local carabinieri station.
