A 40-year-old Stradale police officer in Brescia was arrested for alleged possession of child pornography after Postale police found thousands of images and videos on his devices. The probe began with an alert generated by a new-generation system used by the Postal Police to detect child sexual abuse material online. The alert led investigators to the man. On Thursday, 29 October, agents carried out a search at the officer’s home on the order of substitute prosecutor Alessio Bernardi. They seized his mobile phone and computer. Police say thousands of files were identified on the devices, including photographs and videos showing minors. Investigators are now analyzing the digital material to establish where it came from and whether the suspect only downloaded and stored it or also shared it with other users. The review also includes possible production activity. The Postal Police are examining online groups and platforms, including dark web environments, to identify victims and determine where the images were made. The arrest comes hours after another operation in the Brescia area, in which an innkeeper was arrested following the discovery of about 10,000 child pornography photos and videos involving children and teenagers aged 6 to 16. Investigators are continuing both cases and checking for any links between them. The man remains under investigation following the arrest, as digital forensics and victim identification efforts continue.
