British man arrested after neck stabbing at Seoul university faces extradition
Korean police say he fled to Britain and was arrested nine days later.
A British man suspected of stabbing a woman in the neck at a Seoul university has been arrested in Britain and faces extradition, Korean police said.
Korean authorities issued an Interpol Red Notice after the suspect fled following the Sept. 29 attack at around 11:50 a.m. The woman suffered a minor neck wound.
Korean National Police Agency said the man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder. Police said he had stabbed a woman he knew at a university in Seoul before escaping to Britain.
After the suspect left Korea, Korean police requested an Interpol Red Notice and confirmed he entered Britain. A Korean police liaison officer stationed in Britain then worked with the country’s National Extradition Unit to locate him.
Korean police said they will work with the Ministry of Justice and other relevant agencies to expedite his return to Korea through extradition proceedings.
The latest status is that the suspect is under arrest in Britain, with extradition steps to follow as Korean authorities seek his return.
