A 43-year-old man from Caracal has been detained for 24 hours after police said he allegedly assaulted his wife, threatened her with violence, and returned to their home despite a protection order. Police were called on 14 October by an emergency 112 report about a man threatening his spouse at the shared address. Officers said the incident followed a spontaneous conflict, during which the man allegedly physically assaulted the 40-year-old woman and threatened her with acts of violence. After an initial risk assessment showed an imminent danger, police issued a temporary protection order against him. In the night of 14 to 15 October, the woman contacted police again, reporting that her husband had allegedly violated the temporary measures by coming back to the home. Police opened a new case for violation of the temporary protection order. After evidence was gathered, the man was detained on 15 October and taken to the Olt County Police Inspectorate’s detention centre. He is to be presented to the competent prosecutor’s office for decisions on the next legal steps. The case is being handled by police, while the suspect benefits from procedural rights and the presumption of innocence as the investigation continues.
