Police in Castelsarrasin arrest 20-year-old suspected burglar with PS5
A “neighbours vigilant” alert led to a flagrant délit arrest and a court appearance on 20 October.
Police arrested a 20-year-old suspected burglar in Castelsarrasin after a “Voisins vigilants” alert in the night of 17 to 18 October 2026.
Officers responded quickly after hearing noise in an apartment building, and caught the man as he was entering a flat, after the front door of the building and the apartment door had been forced.
The suspect and a co-offender had allegedly tried to flee with gaming gear, one getting away with a PS5 console while the accomplice planned to take at least a television. But the alert triggered an immediate police presence.
The 20-year-old, described as intoxicated at the time of the burglary, was taken into custody. He was already known to police for similar incidents and was placed under an extended police custody period to be questioned further.
He was referred to the public prosecutor’s office in Montauban on Monday, 19 October, and placed under detention pending trial. The suspect is due to be tried in immediate appearance at the criminal court in the coming hearing on Tuesday, 20 October.
