Police in Catania arrested a 21-year-old man accused of stalking his ex-companion and waiting outside her home. The alleged persecution began after the couple split, with the victim saying the man would not accept the end of the relationship. She reported that he followed her on outings and bombarded her with phone calls. In recent days, the accused allegedly positioned himself under her residence to intercept her as she left or returned. The situation escalated further, with the victim claiming he waited for her outside and then got into her car in an attempt to approach her again. The woman said she received help from friends. Late at night, the man allegedly rang her doorbell insistently, but left when he noticed a group of friends had gathered outside. At dawn, he allegedly returned to wait again. Officers were called to the scene via the Sala Operativa at the Catania police headquarters, and a volante arrived within minutes to assist. Police put the woman in safety and she later filed a complaint. When officers arrived, they spotted the 21-year-old near the ex-companion’s home. He was arrested for stalking-related acts. Prosecutors ordered his placement in custody while the case moves forward for judge validation.
