Polish Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police (CBŚP) presented a new strategy to tackle synthetic drugs and NPS at the European Parliament. Deputy Chief Inspector Michał Aleksandrowicz, head of the CBŚP unit for organised drug crime, addressed members of the LIBE committee, pushing for tighter European police cooperation on industrial production risks and harms to public health and the environment. Aleksandrowicz, representing the Polish Police and serving as chair of the EMPACT Synthetic Drugs/NPS platform, laid out CBŚP experience in confronting cross-border criminal structures. His presentation focused on what EU-wide changes he says are necessary to make the fight against synthetic drugs more effective across the bloc. The latest status is that the matter is being raised through parliamentary discussion as part of shaping EU-level policy and cooperation on synthetic drugs and NPS.
