Carabinieri have arrested a 67-year-old man in Cesenatico accused of a serial theft spree across the area, including a parish. The suspect is accused of seven burglaries in the Riviera and in Gambettola, with police alleging he stole copper, electrical cables, rain gutters and bars, as well as food stored at some targeted businesses. Investigators say he followed a consistent method, breaking into companies and commercial premises by forcing doors and windows before taking the material. Police also allege the thefts included copper taken from electrical distribution cabins and from a parish in Cesenatico. The items were then loaded onto vehicles the man reportedly found locally. In two cases, in addition to copper, he allegedly took food kept in store-room areas of the same businesses hit. The arrest followed an investigation that used footage from local surveillance systems and interviews with witnesses. Officers identified and reported the 67-year-old multiple times as the alleged author of the seven episodes. Carabinieri said he was also accused of an aggravating offence involving damage to facilities intended for public service. On Tuesday, prosecutors asked a judge (Gip) at the Forlì court to apply a jail measure. The judge accepted the request and ordered the transfer to prison, at the disposal of the judicial authority. The case is at the stage of custody and judicial availability, with the investigation handled by the Forlì public prosecutor’s office.
