Police in Chambery arrested a man during an attempted break-in in the city centre. In the night of Sunday 1 November to Monday 2 November, officers caught the suspect in the act outside the Mondial Pizza restaurant on boulevard Léon Gambetta. He was holding a crowbar and was forcing the entrance. Investigators used CCTV footage to connect him to earlier burglaries. After further inquiries, police said they could attribute three business break-ins to the same man, committed during the nights of 26 to 27 October. That night, a half dozen shops and restaurants in Chamberys city centre were targeted. The suspect was placed in police custody following the arrest. He is homeless and is based in Chambery, and he is already known to the justice system for similar offences. The investigation is continuing, with police maintaining him in custody after the arrest.
