Police arrested two suspected cable thieves after they were spotted near the Sükerhook substation in Coesfeld early Monday morning. Officers on patrol noticed two men around 02:15 in the area of the power facility. The substation itself was not the target, but a secured storage yard outside the site was. According to police, the suspects opened the construction fence by force to get to a container where cables were kept. Officers found burglary tools during a search. Both men were travelling in a car that was not registered. Police seized the vehicle and took the suspects into custody. One of the men is already known to police. During Monday, the two were released after the police measures ended.
