Danville CBD owner accused in federal cannabis corruption case
Federal indictment says payments topped $1.4 million between Jan 2024 and Sept 2025.
A Danville business owner is accused in a federal cannabis corruption case tied to Virginia state Sen. L. Louise Lucas, with court documents describing a racketeering and money-laundering conspiracy.
Prince Albert William Hudson III, owner of Exotic World, a CBD store in Danville, is named among seven defendants in the indictment. Prosecutors also include Lucas and three members of her family.
Hudson faces charges of racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to distribute and possess with intent to distribute marijuana, and conspiracy to launder money.
Court documents say Hudson supplied marijuana to members of the Lucas Enterprise, which then sold marijuana to benefit the organization. The indictment describes Hudson as a businessman with multiple companies, including Agri-Carter, LLC, and Regal Industries, LLC, which does business as Exotic World.
The indictment also says Hudson was a regular supplier to the Cannabis Outlet, one of the central businesses in the case. Lucas, 82, and her daughter, Lisa Lucas-Burke, opened the Cannabis Outlet in Portsmouth in 2021.
Between January 2024 and September 2025, the Cannabis Outlet made payments totaling more than $1.4 million to Hudson, according to court records. The documents allege Hudson visited the Cannabis Outlet multiple times, delivered large boxes and, on one occasion, left with a large red duffle bag.
On May 6, the FBI executed federal search warrants at Exotic World, where marijuana was recovered. Search warrants were also served at the Cannabis Outlet and The CBD Shoppe, with marijuana and firearms seized at both locations.
An indictment is an allegation, and all defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. At this stage, Hudson and the other charged defendants have been indicted, with the case proceeding in federal court.
