Inspector detained by Romania’s DNA over alleged 45,000 lei bribe
He was caught receiving the money, and prosecutors found about 90,000 euros at home.
A Romanian inspector was detained by DNA prosecutors after being caught in a bribery deal, authorities said.
The inspector from the Environment Fund Administration was held for 24 hours, starting on 23 October 2026, accused of taking bribes.
Prosecutors allege the man demanded 45,000 lei from a firm’s administrator. The money was allegedly requested to help reduce the company’s obligations to the Environment Fund and to deal with irregularities uncovered during a control.
DNA investigators said they caught him red-handed on 23 October 2026 while he was receiving the requested sum.
After the arrest, prosecutors raided his home and found about 90,000 euros. The money was seized for an insurance attachment.
The case investigation is ongoing for the offence of taking bribes, and the suspect benefits from the presumption of innocence throughout the criminal process.
