22-year-old accused of resisting police after Domodossola vandalism
Carabinieri arrested him over alleged injuries to officers and damaged street furniture.
A 22-year-old man was arrested in Domodossola after allegedly resisting Carabinieri and injuring officers during a night intervention linked to vandalism of street furniture.
Carabinieri of the Aliquota Radiomobile della Compagnia di Domodossola moved in after several calls to the emergency number reported a group of young people damaging urban fixtures along Corso Attilio Moneta.
On arrival, police stopped two people. A third suspect fled before they reached the scene and is still being identified.
One of the two detained men had a visible head wound, believed at first to have been caused by a bottle strike. Investigators said the 22-year-old and the fleeing youth were involved in a heated dispute with the third person, who later required medical treatment for the injury.
During the police intervention, the 22-year-old allegedly carried out violent resistance, including striking the officers and kicking the service vehicle, damaging it. With support from a Police of State patrol that arrived on scene, the man was immobilised, taken to barracks, and declared under arrest.
At the location, Carabinieri found signs that several urban street elements had been damaged. Investigators are now checking surveillance camera footage from the area to verify whether the vandalism and the individuals involved in the dispute are directly connected.
He is currently in custody as the case remains under investigation.
