Driver arrested in Aksaray after crashing into a road pole
Police said the suspect resisted officers, and footage captured the confrontation.
A driver was arrested in Aksaray after losing control of his vehicle and smashing into a road pole, police said.
The crash happened on Alparslan Türkeş Bulvarı. Police said Muhammet A. lost steering control, hit a pole by the road divider, and the impact caused the pole to fall onto a parked car.
After the accident, residents called 112 and police were dispatched to the scene. Traffic teams started on-site checks and worked to identify the driver involved.
Officers later identified Muhammet A. through camera footage. When police tried to establish the driver’s identity, he allegedly claimed he was not the driver and resisted, sparking tension between him and the officers.
As the situation escalated, additional police units were sent to the scene. After prolonged efforts, Muhammet A. was taken into custody.
During the incident, a driver’s relative who arrived at the scene allegedly tried to intervene with police. Officers removed the person from the area, and the relative was also arrested. Security cameras recorded the moments leading up to and during the police action.
Investigators are continuing their inquiry into the crash and the events surrounding it, with more details expected to be shared later.
