A driver has been arrested for drug driving after testing positive for cocaine and cannabis at a checkpoint on the Kilkenny Ring Road. Kilkenny Roads Policing Unit officers, working with Road Safety Authority personnel, carried out a Mandatory Intoxicant Testing checkpoint when the driver was detected. Gardaí confirmed that proceedings have commenced in connection with the incident. The arrest comes as Gardaí warn motorists that checkpoints will be carried out across Kilkenny city and county over the weekend. Drivers were reminded never to drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs as enforcement continues during adverse weather conditions.
