A 37-year-old driver suspected of hitting and killing a pedestrian on Chișinău’s Bulevardul Dacia was identified and detained for 72 hours, police said. The incident happened in the evening of 22 October. According to preliminary information from the police, a Skoda car struck a 71-year-old man on an undirected pedestrian crossing controlled by traffic lights. The man died at the scene. After the crash, the driver allegedly left the scene and abandoned the car. Police carried out actions to identify and locate the suspect. Once the 37-year-old was found, officers detained him for 72 hours while procedural steps continue to establish all circumstances of how the accident happened. The investigation remains ongoing.
