Driver held after crash on road between Pleven and Yasen
Alcohol test showed more than 1.2 promille, and the man was detained up to 24 hours.
A 39-year-old driver was detained after a crash on the road between Pleven and the village of Yasen, where four youths previously died.
Police received the crash signal at 17:22 this evening. Preliminary information says that while overtaking, the driver lost control of his car travelling from Yasen toward Pleven.
The vehicle slid and hit the side of another car driven by a 52-year-old man. The impact was so strong that it overturned the 52-year-old’s car onto its roof.
Officers from Traffic Police arrived at the scene. A breath alcohol test for the 39-year-old showed more than 1.2 promille, which police said is a criminal offence under the Penal Code. He was issued a medical testing referral, and he was detained for up to 24 hours.
Investigators said reasons and circumstances around the accident are still being clarified, with on-scene inspections underway.
