Police raid in NRW seizes 2 kg amphetamine and holds 39 suspects
Two more men are in custody after searches across eight locations in NRW.
Police in North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW) have seized around two kilograms of amphetamine, along with weapons, ammunition and cash, during a raid on a suspected drug gang.
The operation took place on Wednesday, 14 October. Officers carried out searches at eight homes, business premises and hideouts in Kierspe, Meinerzhagen, Unna and Wuppertal, after investigators had secured two arrest warrants.
During the raids, police found three tablet presses and larger quantities of substances used to manufacture drugs. They also seized about 7,000 euros in cash, expensive watches and mobile phones, plus munition.
The two men targeted by the warrants, aged 29 and 35, were taken into custody. They are suspected of playing roles in the group, including producing amphetamine, hiding drugs, handling transport and selling the drugs locally.
The current case is part of a larger procedure into a suspected Europe-wide drug group. In June, police moved against the same suspects, raiding 31 locations in NRW, Spain and Austria and recovering cannabis, cocaine and crack, as well as amphetamine oil and materials that could be used to make amphetamine.
In the latest stage, investigators say the probe now involves 39 accused individuals aged 19 to 56. Police are continuing to examine who was involved in the business and where the money went.
