A 42-year-old man faces a criminal case after police ordered blood samples.
A 42-year-old driver was caught in Pitești driving under the influence after a breath test showed alcohol above the 0.40 mg/l limit.
Police stopped the man on 25 October on Strada Basarabia in Pitești. The etilotest result exceeded 0.40 mg/l alcohol in exhaled air, giving officers grounds to suspect he had been drinking while driving.
The driver, from the commune of Moșoaia, was taken to a medical unit to have biological samples collected to determine his blood alcohol level.
Officers from Secția 4 Poliție Pitești opened a criminal file for driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol. He was also given a replacement document with no right to drive during the investigations.
Authorities say the case is ongoing as they work to establish all circumstances, and blood analysis results are expected to clarify the situation from a criminal law perspective.
