Eight STB drivers accused of siphoning fuel from buses in Ferentari
Police raided homes of ten suspects across Bucharest and nearby counties.
Eight STB drivers are accused of siphoning fuel from buses parked overnight at the Ferentari depot, with help from two security guards, Bucharest police said.
The investigation began on 27 August after officers received a report that large quantities of fuel had gone missing.
Police from the Brigada de Poliție pentru Transportul Public, with support from Jandarmeria București, carried out searches on 28 October in Bucharest and in Ilfov and Giurgiu.
Ten home-search warrants were executed, along with ten summons warrants. The ten suspects were located and taken for questioning.
Prosecutors supervise the case as police continue their work for theft and complicity in theft. Between 23 June and 30 September 2026, several drivers allegedly took fuel from the reservoirs of buses owned by the transport company, both during their working hours and at night.
In one reported incident on 4 August 2026, one of the drivers allegedly received help from two security agents employed by a security company while they were on duty.
Investigators say the legal steps will follow, and the investigation is continuing under the authority of the Prosecutor's Office attached to Judecătoria Sectorului 5.
