A man was killed in a gunfight between two groups in Odunpazarı, Eskişehir, after being shot in the chest, and a suspect is now in custody. Police were called to the area of Üçtop Sokak and Yunus Emre Caddesi after gunshots were reported. The clash escalated from an argument into a short, fast-moving shootout, captured by an amateur camera. Emergency teams arrived and found Muratcan A. wounded in the chest by a shotgun. Despite treatment at the scene and hospital care, he died. Officers launched a search and detained the suspect, A.Ç., at his home about 100 metres from the incident site. In his first statement, he claimed he threw the shotgun into a construction area behind the house. Prosecutors authorized a detailed search of the residence, where police located the shotgun inside the home. A.Ç. was taken into custody by police. While being led away, A.Ç. made statements that linked his actions to what he called deserved consequences. He also told journalists, when asked why he shot, that it was “necessary.” Investigators say they have started a broad probe and that other people believed to be connected were also taken to the police station.
