The deal sets up long-term cooperation and information exchange between Eurojust and Iraqi authorities.
Eurojust has signed an agreement with Iraq to establish long-term cooperation aimed at combating terrorism and organised crime.
The agreement was signed at Eurojust’s headquarters in The Hague by Michael Schmid, President of Eurojust, and Judge Ali Hussein Jafaat, representing Iraq’s Supreme Judicial Council and chairing the National Centre for International Judicial Cooperation.
Under the agreement, Eurojust will provide a framework for strategic cooperation and for the exchange of information with relevant Iraqi authorities.
The document is intended to support ongoing coordination between the agency and counterpart bodies in Iraq in matters related to terrorism and organised crime.
