Patras police arrest man after fake robbery complaint
He told officers he was robbed at gunpoint, then admitted the report was false.
Police in Patras arrested a young man after he filed a fake robbery report, then broke down during questioning and admitted it was untrue.
The man called the police early on Tuesday, saying he had been attacked by two hooded men. He claimed the suspects threatened him with a weapon, immobilised him, and stole his motorbike.
Officers from the Patras Security were immediately concerned. The details of his account contained contradictions, raising doubts about the credibility of the complaint.
During the investigation, the man ultimately admitted the robbery allegation was false and explained his reasons. Following his confession, police arrested him on the spot.
The case remains under police handling after the arrest tied to the false report.
