Violence erupted in Vienna in the 10th district when a 53-year-old man allegedly confronted his 22-year-old daughter and her 27-year-old friend outside their home on 17 October 2026. The dispute was triggered, according to police, by the father’s rejection of the daughter’s relationship. During the argument, the man is alleged to have grabbed the friend by the collar, pulled him by the hair, and threatened to kill him if he continued the relationship. The daughter tried to calm the situation, but the father is also alleged to have threatened her. After that, he left the scene. The woman contacted the police. Officers from the Stadtpolizeikommando Favoriten took statements from the woman and the man. The suspect could be reached by phone and later went to a nearby police station. Authorities issued a residence and approach ban and a temporary ban on weapons. Prosecutors in Vienna then ordered that the 53-year-old be notified on a suspicion of serious coercion, dangerous threats and bodily harm. He is currently on free status while the case is handled by investigators.
