A 22-year-old fentanyl suspect in Siena was confirmed on home detention after a court hearing following a police stop in San Prospero. The man appeared in court for the convalidation before the investigating judge, Sonia Caravelli, with the prosecutor Elisa Vieri and his lawyer Davide Signorino. He chose to use the right not to respond. Police arrested him on 15 October, around 22:00, after officers stopped him in the San Prospero area and found a plastic bag holding medicines, including fentanyl. The seizure involved 81 packages of psychotropic drugs, along with other medicinal products. Investigators are now working to determine how he got the medicines and what he planned to do with them, including the fentanyl’s intended use and whether he knew of its dangers outside strict medical control. Caravelli confirmed the home detention requested by prosecutors, arguing in part based on the type of substance found. The investigation is continuing, including analysis of the seized drugs, and officials also plan to examine his phone. The suspect remains under house arrest while authorities carry on checks on the origin of the medicines.
