Four young men charged with igniting fireworks in Donegal
The case was mentioned at Letterkenny District Court, with charges under the Explosives Act.
Four young men have been charged with igniting fireworks in Donegal following an alleged incident in October 2025.
The accused are Eoin McGettigan, 19, of Kill, Carrigart; Adam Ward, 19, from Ford Garden, Kerrykeel; Dylan Logue, 20, of Tyrladen, Glencar, Letterkenny; and Mark Hunter, 19, with an address at Drum, Portsalon.
They were charged over an alleged incident on October 16, 2025 at Carran, Portsalon. The case came before Letterkenny District Court this week.
All four men face the same offence, igniting fireworks, a charge brought under section 80 of the Explosives Act, 1875. Garda Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court the men were charged with “letting fireworks off” and that the matter could be dealt with in the District Court.
The men were not present in court for the brief mention. Judge Emile Daly asked that disclosure be given to their legal representatives by the end of November. The case was adjourned to January, when the defendants will either plead guilty or seek a hearing date.
Ahead of the Halloween period, Garda in Donegal issued a warning about fireworks, citing severe criminal penalties for offences including igniting an illegal firework, throwing an ignited firework at a person or property, or possessing illegal fireworks for sale or supply. The spokesperson said penalties include fines of up to €10,000 and up to 5 years imprisonment.
