Carabinieri arrested a 35-year-old man after he ignored an order to stop and fled with the plates covered in cloth near Ostellato. The incident happened around 11 in the frazione Medelana di Ostellato. During routine traffic checks, the patrol told the driver of an Opel utility to pull over, but he continued driving after occulting the front and rear licence plates, leading to a high-speed chase. The car headed through nearby roads until it reached the territory of Ferrara. In a peripheral street in the city, the man abandoned the vehicle by the roadside and tried to escape on foot across the surrounding fields. Carabinieri kept chasing him and the man allegedly fought to avoid the arrest, leading to a physical struggle. Officers managed to stop and render him harmless, also using the anti-aggression spray in their kit. The vehicle used for the escape was seized because it had no insurance coverage. After the legal formalities, the arrested man was taken to his home address. He was arrested in flagrante for alleged resistance, violence and aggravated injuries to a public official, and for alleged failure to comply with stay regulations.
