Police arrested a young man in Avezzano for aggravated theft and alleged misuse of payment instruments after a tabaccheria theft connected to a minor. Officers from the Avezzano Public Security Commissariat were alerted via the NUE 112 emergency number after a report from a shop near the bus terminal. A patrol stopped and detained the suspect while he was making illicit payments at the store using a credit card stolen shortly before, along with cash and other personal items taken from a minor. Surveillance cameras inside the tabaccheria recorded the buying attempt. Police analysed the footage and identified that a second person was present as a suspected accomplice, whose identity is still being established. The accused was taken to the Commissariat for formal checks. He was arrested for aggravated theft and alleged improper use of payment instruments other than cash. A judge ordered house arrest at his home. The stolen credit card was recovered and returned to the rightful owner.
