Gardaí seize €3m of illegal vapes and cash in five counties
More than 100 officers searched properties and seized €235,000 in cash.
Gardaí have seized an estimated €3m worth of illegal vape and cannabis products during a nationwide crackdown involving searches across five counties.
Officers carried out raids last Friday as part of an ongoing operation targeting an organised crime group selling and supplying illegal vapes and cannabis products throughout the country.
More than 100 gardaí, along with national specialist units, were involved in searches in Longford, Mayo, Roscommon, Wexford, and Carlow.
Garda HQ said illegal vapes and cannabis-based products with a street value totalling more than €3m were seized, along with more than €235,000 in cash, £3,000, and $3,500, plus high-value vehicles.
A security source said samples of seized products have been sent to Forensic Science Ireland, where technicians will examine their contents and check for synthetic, semi-synthetic, or natural cannabinoids.
While no arrests were made, sources said it was a search operation and that arrests would come at the end of the investigation.
HSE warnings last August followed lab analysis of vape samples seized during 2026, identifying high-risk cannabinoids in vapes, vape juice and edibles. Gardaí said their operation was led by the Garda National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, assisted by other units.
The investigation status remains ongoing, with evidence gathered and products now undergoing forensic testing.
