Guardia Civil recovers eight stolen racing galgos in Sevilla, four accused
Two dogs had their microchips removed and needed vet treatment before being returned to the owner.
Spanish Guardia Civil officers have recovered eight stolen racing galgos in Bollullos de la Mitación, Sevilla, and detained four people over alleged theft and animal mistreatment.
The case began after the owner of a finca reported the robbery of eight registered galgos used for national competition. An investigation by the Guardia Civil traced the group behind the crime to a residence in the Las Tres Mil Viviendas neighbourhood of Sevilla.
During the operation, police recovered all the dogs and returned them immediately to their legitimate owner. Officers also found that the microchips of two of the animals had been surgically removed, and the dogs had injuries that required veterinary care.
The Guardia Civil investigation was handled by the ROCA team based in Sanlúcar La Mayor, Sevilla. Four local residents were put at the disposal of the judicial authority as suspected authors of theft with force, serious injury, animal mistreatment, and membership in an organized group.
