La Guardia Civil detains two people and seizes about 3,500 liters of gasoline carried in 149 jerry cans, allegedly meant to refuel narcolanchas, on the A-4 in the province of Seville. The operation, called Moneybox, began after investigators detected a van possibly used to transport fuel for narcotrafficking boats. Officers set up surveillance and tracked the vehicle, which was seen driving at high speed on the autovía A-4. The furgoneta was intercepted at kilometer 525 of the A-4, with support from units in Carmona and Los Alcores. During the search, agents found 149 containers with a total approximate amount of 3,500 liters of gasoline. The fuel was carried in individual jerry cans, without homologated fuel tanks, matching the typical pattern for supplying fast semirigid boats. Authorities described the fuel operation in the so-called petaqueo, the act of supplying gasoline to the fast boats that cross the Strait of Gibraltar. The investigation targets this logistics link, aimed at preventing the boats from completing their crossings. The Guardia Civil detained the driver and another person listed as the vehicle’s renter. The driver was also driving without a valid license because he had lost all points. A judge in Seville ordered provisional prison for the person driving at the time of the interception. Investigators say the case remains open and focus on identifying where the fuel was meant to go and the network that paid for it. The Guardia Civil did not specify how many officers took part in the operation.
