Police in La Spezia arrested a 40-year-old man after finding nearly half a kilo of suspected drugs, following complaints from residents. Officers began their investigation in the Pegazzano area after repeated reports of suspicious comings and goings at an address in via Mameli. On Wednesday late afternoon, they observed a man entering the building and leaving after a few minutes, then moved in to stop him. The man handed over about 1 gram of cocaine he had just bought. Investigators then waited for the alleged dealer’s next appearance near the same home to carry out a further check. When the 40-year-old was searched, police seized 92.86 grams gross of hashish, split into two pieces and further divided into doses. They also found 319.30 grams gross of marijuana in three bags, plus 35 grams of tobacco mixed with marijuana. Cocaine was also recovered, totaling 11.15 grams gross split into five doses, and an additional package containing 0.45 grams gross. Police additionally found an electronic precision scale used to prepare the doses. The man was placed in house arrest and is due to appear before a judge for the direttissima. According to La Nazione, the case is now before the court, with the suspect awaiting his hearing.
